Countering Vikramaditya’s scheme to remove him: BJP Mandi chief

Govind Singh Thakur, a former minister and BJP leader of the Mandi parliamentary seat, said that the PWD Minister Vikramaditya Singh’s Mandi campaign seemed to be an attempt to remove him from the state’s political landscape. “If he loses, he would be ousted from politics and even if he wins, he would be sidelined,” he stated, speaking at a news conference held here today.

According to the in-charge, Vikramaditya quit the party the day after the state’s Rajya Sabha election and expressed dissatisfaction over the state government’s refusal to provide space for a monument honoring his father, who served as the state’s chief minister (CM) for six times. He said: “Pratibha Singh, the current Mandi MP and head of the HPCC, might have also received a ticket, but she had already stated in public that winning the polls was not feasible given the current situation. It was unexpected that Vikramaditya had been selected by Congress in place of his mother.

Additionally, he claimed, “Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu had declared that he had a political disagreement with the late Virbhadra Singh, the chief minister, but not with his son Vikramaditya.”

The leader said that the Congress manifesto’s promises were geared at splitting the nation. “After being elected to power again, the BJP has vowed to implement the Uniform Civil Code in pursuit of its vision of creating Akhand Bharat,” the speaker said.

Vikramaditya, according to Thakur, was only engaged on social media, had lived a life of luxury, and was unaware of the issues facing the average person since he was a member of the royal family. Additionally, he said that Vikramaditya had failed to improve the Shimla (Rural) Constituency and that the roads in Rampur’s rural districts were in appalling shape.

After six of its MLAs joined the BJP, the Congress now has 34 MLAs in the state. In addition, three independent MLAs have also joined the BJP. Due to the resignation of the independent candidates, byelections have been declared in six seats and may take place in three more. Only 33 MLAs would remain for Congress after Vikramaditya’s removal from the state government. As a Congress MLA and speaker of the Vidhan Sabha, he is only eligible to vote in a tie during the floor test. If the BJP manages to win all nine MLA seats and the Shimla (rural) seat, it has the potential to overthrow the Congress administration in the state.
