Dy CM for Karnataka Shivakumar would spend two days visiting temples in MP

According to the Congress, D K Shivakumar, the deputy chief minister of Karnataka, would go to Madhya Pradesh on Saturday for a two-day visit to three important temples, including the Mahakaleshwar temple in Ujjain.

After the Congress pulled off an impressive win in the assembly elections in the southern state last month, the visit is being considered as a pilgrimage of thankfulness.

According to his tour itinerary provided to the media, Shivakumar is scheduled to arrive at Gwalior airport at 2 pm on a chartered aircraft, after which he would go to Datia district to deliver prayers at the well-known Peetambra Peeth, a collection of Hindu temples.

The 61-year-old Congress leader will fly from Gwalior to Indore and then take a road trip to Ujjain.

He will participate in the ‘Bhasm Aarti’ on Sunday at 4 am at the Ujjain Mahakaleshwar temple, one of the 12 ‘Jyotirlings’ in the nation. He’ll also go to the city’s Kalabhairava shrine.

The party’s go-to troubleshooter, the head of the Karnataka Congress, will leave Indore early on Sunday.

The Congress gained 135 seats in the 224-member Karnataka Assembly during last month’s elections. The BJP and JD(S) respectively won 66 and 19 seats.
