Education Department starts a program to mentor the youth voters in Malerkotla

To educate first-time voters about voting without pressure, allurement, or discrimination based on caste and creed, the Education Department has organized a concerted campaign.

In addition to educating young people, especially students, about their responsibility to use their right to vote without hindrance to contribute to the nation’s development, the campaign will assist the administration in reaching its goal of surpassing the national vote percentage by the greatest amount.

The campaign’s key components were setting up photo spots at educational institutions and hosting seminars and workshops as part of Systematic Voter Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP).

Senior officials in the Education Department, under the direction of District SVEEP nodal officer-cum-District Education Officer (Secondary) Jaswinder Kaur and District SVEEP nodal officer (Colleges) Mohammad Irfan Faruqi, Deputy Commissioner Pallavi said, had formulated a comprehensive plan to encourage young people, including seniors in the district, to collaborate with the district administration in carrying out the Election Commission of India’s guidelines during the Lok Sabha elections.

“We are happy that young people, including college and school students, are very interested in the activities being held to raise awareness about the reasons why it is important to participate in the democratic process of voting,” DC Pallavi said. She expressed her gratitude to the SVEEP nodal officers for their efforts in putting together an extensive program aimed at increasing the number of younger voters.

In addition to making sure they vote on June 1st, SVEEP Nodal Officers Kaur and Faruqi said that the students had been asked to raise public awareness of the issue.

Additionally, information on using the cVigil app to report violations of ECI rules and maintain a record of those violations was shared with the students.
