Following ED, BJP is now targeting DMK with NCB: TN Law Minister

Law Minister S Regupathy said on Sunday that the BJP, as it had done in the past with the I-T department, CBI, and Enforcement Directorate, was using the Narcotics Control Bureau to discredit the DMK administration. Civil and criminal charges will be brought against anybody who makes accusations that the DMK or its leaders are involved in the drug trade, according to MP P Wilson, the legal counsel for the DMK.

Speaking to media at the DMK headquarters, Regupathy said that the BJP’s attempts to defame the DMK would fail. While the saffron party is “engaged in a misadventure” to defame the DMK, the DMK has been instrumental in uniting opposition parties to free India from the BJP’s despotic hold.

“We guarantee that no one involved in illicit activity will be present at our celebration. Only in Delhi and other states has NCB found drugs connected to Jaffer Sadiq. Since the drug problem was under control by our administration, the agency did not seize anything in Tamil Nadu. Regupathy accused the BJP and the AIADMK of harboring Sadiq’s sympathies. The saffron party is attempting to paint Tamil Nadu as a drug-addled state since the people of north Indian states have questioned the BJP why they haven’t been able to guarantee development comparable to that of Tamil Nadu.

Regupathy said that the DMK had over two crore members, and even after conducting an investigation, the party was unable to accept every single one of them. However, the moment the party learns that someone has done anything wrong, they take swift action. The party has kicked Jaffer Sadiq out.

The minister also said that since the DMK took power in the State, the courts have praised the party’s efforts to stop the drug problem. Gnaneshwar Singh, the deputy director of the NCB, met with reporters in Delhi prior to the conclusion of the drug trafficking investigation. Regupathy said, “He has done this to defame the DMK, and the BJP is hoping to gain political mileage out of this.”

The law minister said that certain ministers supported gutka dealers under the AIADMK government, and the DMK filed a lawsuit to have the CBI look into the matter. In the home of former minister C Vijaya Baskar, a memorandum detailing the distribution of `85 crore among ministers was discovered. However, he said, “central agencies failed to take any action on this.”

The minister said that on February 15, NCB issued a watch notice for Jaffer Sadiq. But on February 21, he attended an event connected to the movie “Mangai.” “At that moment, what was the NCB doing? A lawsuit was brought against Sadiq in 2013, during the AIADMK’s rule. But the state administration at the time handled the issue improperly. Sadiq was rescued at that point by attorney Paul Kanagaraj, who is now the head of the BJP’s advocates branch. He said, “This took place under the AIADMK rule.
