Kejriwal to LG on ‘Freebies’: ‘Don’t Insult People of Delhi’

Arvind Kejriwal, the chief minister of Delhi, reacted angrily to Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena’s comments on “freebies” and urged him not to “insult” the “hard-working people” of the city.

At a PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry event titled “Delhi 2041 – New Master Plan” on Wednesday, Saxena said that Delhi residents are now “used to freebies.”

The Aam Aadmi Party government’s subsidies, particularly those for water and energy, seem to be the target of Saxena’s comments. Kejriwal responded to Saxena’s comments by saying that Saxena was an outsider who did not comprehend Delhi’s residents.

“The Delhi residents work hard. By working hard, they have improved Delhi’s appearance. LG sir, you are an outsider who does not comprehend Delhi or Delhiites. Don’t offend Delhi residents in this way, he said in a Hindi tweet.

The chief minister said that, in contrast to other governments, the Delhi government does not engage in “theft”. “We give customers with conveniences while saving money. What exactly is your issue with this? stated Kejriwal.
