Khattar is thinking about the dam-building proposal near the Hathnikund Barrage

In response to a dispute between his state and neighboring Delhi over the construction of a dam 500 meters away from the Hathnikund Barrage, Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar stated on Wednesday that his administration is studying the idea.

The AAP administration in Delhi has charged Haryana of overloading the Yamuna River with water from the barrage, which caused flooding in several areas of the city. The Haryana government responded by claiming that the Yamunanagar district’s barrage is not a reservoir capable of holding a significant volume of water.

According to Khattar, the state administration is in discussions with Himachal Pradesh regarding the plan to build the dam and that two villages are required. He said, “We could also require the land of two Himachal villages to construct the dam.

The chief minister said that a survey is being conducted and that things are in the basic stages. In answer to a query, he told reporters here that early reports from specialists indicated it was possible to build a dam.

He said that if such a dam were constructed, water could be kept there and supplied to Haryana, Rajasthan, Delhi, and Uttar Pradesh.

Khattar criticized the AAP leadership once again for attributing some of Delhi’s flooding on his state.

Khattar said that these are interstate affairs when questioned about the AAP’s proposal that the upkeep of the ITO barrage be transferred to the Delhi government for more effective administration.

He said that Delhi, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh were the targets of the Wazirabad, ITO, and Okhla barrages, respectively.

A blame game serves no purpose; both parties must work together to find answers. In response to inquiries about the AAP blaming Haryana for the floods in Delhi, he warned that if the blame game continues, it would affect everyone.

Khattar denied the opposition’s claims that increasing river mining was to blame for the state’s worsening flood crisis.

Such claims, he said, defy logic.
