Lawmaker from Fatehpur named as the Planning Board’s deputy chairman

Today, the state government elevated Bhawani Pathania, an MLA from Fatehpur, to the position of Cabinet as Deputy Chairman of the State Planning Board. Nand Lal, the MLA from Rampur who is a devoted follower of Virbhadra Singh, was named Chairman of the Seventh State Finance Commission yesterday.

The purpose of the political appointments is to appease Pratibha Singh, the president of the Congress, maintain the MLAs’ good humor, and thwart any efforts by the BJP to steal them. The political appointments announced over 14 months after the government was formed indicate that the Congress is concerned that its unhappy MLAs may defect to the BJP. Clearly, the intention behind the action is to keep the flock together throughout the BJP’s attempt to steal Congress MLAs.

At Holly Lodge, Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri paid Pratibha a visit. He has served as a cabinet minister and a devoted follower of Virbhadra Singh. It is said that Pratibha is being visited in an effort to persuade her to back the administration during its severe situation.

The story of Education Minister Rohit Thakur unexpectedly departing the Cabinet meeting halfway is making headlines amid efforts to portray the government as being in good standing. Agnihotri rushes to pull an agitated Rohit back from the Cabinet meeting, wrapping an arm over him, as shown in a video circulating.

Despite the fact that Rohit subsequently claimed he had to leave early to bring his kid down to school, he returned to complete the Cabinet agenda. Ministers Vikramaditya Singh of the Public Works Department and Harshwardhan Chauhan of Industries did not attend the meeting since they were both away from their desks doing personal business.

As Vikramaditya sets up camp in New Delhi, the state capital remains uneasy. Two ardent Virbhadra supporters, MLAs from Rampur Nand Lal and Rohru Mohan Lal Brakta, as well as the Chief Parliamentary Secretary, had their security bolstered. Both of them were present during Vikramaditya’s news conference, when he voiced his complaints against the Chief Minister in public.

Vikramaditya would meet with top Congress leaders subsequent to his meeting with the six disqualified Congress rebels. “Party observer DK Shivkumar requested that I inquire with the six disqualified MLAs about their interest in rejoining the Congress. When I met them, their sole demand was that the leadership be changed. He told The Tribune, “I will relay their feelings to the party high command.”

Pratibha had already expressed her sorrow at the six Congress MLAs’ disqualification, saying that she and other party members had put in a lot of effort to secure their win.
