Lok Sabha Elections 2024: Party chairman Jayant Chaudhary is present as BSP politician Malook Nagar joins RLD

Lok Sabha Elections 2024: In a noteworthy move, Malook Nagar became a member of the Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) on Thursday, with party president Jayant Chaudhary in attendance. This might mean a change in the political terrain. Renowned RLD leader Jayanat Chaudhary expressed hope that Malook Nagar would soon join the party and emphasised the need to maintain harmony inside the party.

Chaudhary emphasised the friendship between the two leaders and said that Malook Nagar had previously been a member of the party’s youth section, demonstrating his steadfast dedication to the cause.

BSP has a setback.

Malook Nagar, the Bijnor member of parliament, announced his resignation from the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) on Thursday, citing his desire to join the Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD). This was a blow to the BSP.

The action was taken after Nagar looked for other political opportunities after the BSP refused to provide him a ticket to run in the Bijnor election. Nagar publicly disclosed a letter he sent to BSP supremo Mayawati in which he gave his resignation from the party, citing a number of reasons, including the state of politics at the time.

Exodus keeps going
Nagar’s decision comes after a number of prominent BSP leaders—including Ritesh Pandey from Ambedkar Nagar, Sangeeta Azad from Lalganj, and Afzal Ansari from Ghazipur—left the party in search of fresh political opportunities.

Uttar Pradesh’s electoral dynamics
Uttar Pradesh has 80 parliamentary seats, making it a significant player in national politics. In the last elections, the BSP and the Samajwadi Party had forged an alliance and won on several fronts. But after the elections, both parties made the decision to split.

Future stages of the election
There will be seven stages to the Lok Sabha elections around the nation. The Election Commission reports that polling will occur on April 19, April 26, May 7, May 13, May 20, May 25, and June 1. June 4 is when the counts are expected to be completed.
