Lok Sabha Polls: I.N.D.I.A. Seat-Sharing Agreement In Tamil Nadu, Puducherry Is Likely To Be Signed By Congress, DMK Today

The main political parties of the I.N.D.I.A. bloc, the Congress and the DMK, are expected to declare their seat-sharing arrangements for the next Tamil Nadu and Puducherry elections, marking a momentous political step. An important step in the pre-election planning is anticipated to be marked by the announcement, which is anticipated to be made in Chennai on Saturday night.

MK Stalin, the chief minister of Tamil Nadu, is expected to meet with Ajay Kumar, the party’s in-charge, and KC Venugopal, the organization’s general secretary, in Chennai. It is expected that the meeting will be the last one before the alliance partners disclose how the seats will be distributed.

According to those with direct knowledge of the situation, the Congress party is expected to win nine of Tamil Nadu’s thirty-nine Lok Sabha seats as well as one seat in Puducherry, a union territory. However, in an effort to unite anti-BJP support across the state and union territory, the DMK is anticipated to provide nine seats to left parties and other minor parties within the alliance.

The DMK finalized seat-sharing arrangements for the Lok Sabha elections on Friday with its partners, Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (MDMK) and Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK). According to reports, the ruling DMK party confirmed the distribution using the formula for the 2019 Lok Sabha Elections. MDMK was given one seat, while VCK was given two, representing both reserved districts.

With this, VCK plans to run in the seats of Chidambaram and Villupuram. The Thol Thirumavalavan-led party has also chosen to run in the earthen pot, which is its official emblem and has been designated by the Election Commission.

Anticipated with great anticipation is the Congress-DMK seat-sharing deal, which is expected to determine the alliance’s campaign tactics in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.

The DMK and its allies won 38 of the 39 LS seats in the state in 2019 after dominating the elections.
