Maharashtra Schools Will Include Agriculture Subject in Their Curriculum Beginning in the Next Academic Year: Kesarkar

The state’s curriculum would include an agricultural course starting in the next academic year, Deepak Kesarkar, the minister of education for Maharashtra, said on Wednesday. Speaking at a news conference held at the headquarters of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), Kesarkar said that the state administration was dedicated to elevating Maharashtra to the top state in the field of education. Chief Minister Eknath Shinde will launch the “My School Beautiful School” campaign in the state on December 5, according to the Mumbai district guardian minister.

The chief minister announced that a statewide initiative to encourage schoolchildren to read would be started by him, following the model of the “Read Mumbai” campaign. According to Kesarkar, four former double-decker buses have been given over to Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST), where they will be converted into restaurants, art galleries, and libraries. Additionally, these buses will have restrooms and be positioned in crowded places close to the JJ Flyover.

The minister said, “We hope this measure will give a big boost to these areas.”
