After “nivriti,” devotees will be let back inside the temple starting on June 26 in the morning. The temple’s doors are kept locked to symbolise the notion that the Goddess Kamakhya’s yearly menstrual cycle coincides with the time.

throughout this time, the Ambubachi Mela is conducted on the grounds of the temple. It is a significant tourist attraction in the state and draws over 25 lakh visitors throughout the festival.

Three temporary camps have been set up to house the devotees at Pandu Port, Kamakhya Railway Station and Sonaram Higher Secondary School field, according to statements made here on Tuesday by Kamrup Metropolitan Deputy Commissioner Pallav Gopal Jha and Guwahati Police Commissioner Diganta Barah.

At a joint news conference, they said that proper police protection had been set up at the camps, in and around Nilachal Hill, and in the area around it.

According to them, access for cars to Nilachal hill has been limited, and during the mela, devotees are only permitted to enter the temple grounds between the hours of 5 am and 9 pm.

The devotees have access to facilities for drinking water, rest areas, and medical booths, according to the administration.

They stated that in addition to the police officers, volunteers, private security guards, and others have been hired to make sure the Mela goes off without a hitch.
