Rahul Gandhi said, “PM Modi belongs to general category, he lied about caste.”
Speaking on Thursday at the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra, Rahul Gandhi said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had misrepresented his caste. He said that the Prime Minister is a member of the general group and not the Other Backward group (OBC).
“PM Modi does not belong to the OBC group by birth. “He was born in Gujarat in the Teli caste,” Rahul Gandhi said in Jharsuguda, Odisha.
“The BJP designated the group as OBC in the year 2000. He claimed to have been born within the common caste.
“He will not allow caste census to be conducted in his entire life because he was not born in OBC, he was born in general caste…” stated Rahul Gandhi during the yatra.
On Thursday, the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra is expected to arrive in Chhattisgarh from nearby Odisha.
Gandhi’s first trip to Chhattisgarh will take place after his party’s defeat in the state’s Assembly elections in November 2023.
The yatra began in Manipur on January 14 and will cross the districts of Raigarh, Sakti, and Korba on February 11 after a two-day rest.
The yatra is scheduled to shift from Balrampur to Jharkhand on February 14.
