Rajnath Singh meets with BJP leaders in Jammu and solicits their opinions on the current political climate in J&K

Rajnath Singh, the defence minister, paid a visit to the BJP headquarters in this city on Monday and met with top officials to discuss the current political climate in Jammu and Kashmir, a party spokesperson said.

The head of the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) Jammu and Kashmir unit, Ravinder Raina, welcomed Singh to the party’s office in Trikuta Nagar on the outskirts of the city and gave him an update on the political and security climate in the Union Territory, according to the leader.


He said that previous lawmakers, representatives of the Panchayati Raj Institution, and corporators were there in addition to Union Minister Jitendra Singh, Member of Parliament Jugal Kishore, former Deputy Chief Ministers Nirmal Singh and Kavinder Gupta, and former legislators.

The BJP representative said that the defence minister sought input from all of the leaders on the current political and security scenario in Jammu and Kashmir as well as the operation of different party units at the local level.

He said, “During the interaction, which lasted more than an hour, topics such as the party’s election preparations and the ongoing month-long programme to highlight the accomplishments of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government over the last nine years came up as well.”

The BJP officials also informed the defence minister about the party’s initiatives to support the Amarnath Yatra pilgrims, who have begun to arrive here in preparation for the yearly pilgrimage that will begin in the south Kashmir Himalayas on July 1. According to the leader, Singh was also informed about the party’s expanding operations in the Kashmir valley.

According to him, the defence minister expressed pleasure with the way the BJP was running things in Jammu and Kashmir and encouraged the party’s officials to inform the populace about the accomplishments of the Modi administration.
