RJD Charges the Center of Trying to Prevent the Caste Survey in Bihar

On Tuesday, the Rashtriya Janata Dal said that the federal government was trying to halt the caste census in Bihar and “depriving” a sizable portion of society of its rights.

The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), according to RJD MP and party spokesman Manoj Jha, is actively engaged in the effort to thwart the caste survey, as shown by Solicitor General Tushar Mehta’s attendance in court on the topic.

“An effort is being made to obstruct the caste survey, which is virtually finished in Bihar, on orders from the PMO. This demonstrates the desire of the BJP and the Sangh to deny rights to such a sizable portion of society. In a video message, Jha said that this was their first priority.

His comments came a day after the Centre informed the Supreme Court that, in accordance with the applicable legislation, only it is qualified to carry out a census since the matter is covered by the Union list of the Constitution.

The Union of India stated its commitment to taking all affirmative steps to uplift the SCs, STs, SEBCs, and OBCs in accordance with the provisions of the Constitution and the relevant law in an affidavit filed in connection with a number of petitions challenging the Patna High Court’s approval of a caste survey in Bihar.

Tushar Mehta’s presence, according to Jha, “clearly shows that PMO is directly involved in blocking caste survey,” he claimed in his comments. The affidavit’s sixth item, which reads “census and anything akin to census,” indicates that the survey is also being tried to be stopped. When a fuss was made, they claimed that this was an unintentional mistake.” He said that blocking the survey was “deliberate,” not “accidental.”

“By denying rights to such a sizable portion of society, you (the Centre) are igniting a volcano. Consequently, you are being known. The caste census cannot be stopped, he said.
