Tamil Nadu is suffering from unceasing rains; on Monday, many districts closed their banks and schools

Many areas of Tamil Nadu experience waterlogging as a result of the continuous rainfall. The state government in Tirunelveli, Thoothukudi, Kanyakumari, and Tenkasi districts has announced a vacation for all schools, colleges, private institutions, banks, and financial institutions on Monday because of the severe rain.

In the Kovilpatti region, up to 40 lakes have filled up completely. On December 13, further rain is predicted in Tirunelveli, Thoothukudi, and Kanyakumari, according to the IMD. It is also possible for thunderstorms and lightning to occur in some areas of Puducherry, Karaikal, and Tamil Nadu.

In Kovilpatti Panchayat, forty lakes are filled. We fixed the two lakes that were harmed. We also keep a close eye on other lakes. We are prepared to promptly repair any lake breaches,” Rajesh, the district development officer for Thoothukkudi, told ANI.

“To monitor the impact of the heavy rains of the #NorthEastMonsoon in districts including Tirunelveli, Thoothukudi, Tenkasi, and Kanyakumari, I have appointed responsible ministers and senior IAS officers.” MK Stalin, the chief minister of Tamil Nadu, said on X (previously Twitter): “I ask everyone to cooperate with the precautionary measures taken by the government.”

The minister of revenue and disaster management for Tamil Nadu, KKSSR Ramachandran, said that every effort was being made by the government to assist the public. He stated that more than 250 members of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) were stationed in the districts of Tenkasi, Tuticorin, Tirunelveli, and Kanyakumari.
To house people during the catastrophe, several makeshift camps have been set up across the state.
