Ten Karnataka BJP MPs may not get ballots for the Lok Sabha elections

It is possible that ten Karnataka-based BJP MPs in office will not get party tickets to run in the next Lok Sabha elections. A number of meetings are being held in New Delhi by senior BJP leaders in order to finalize the list of candidates, which they may announce on Friday.

Karnataka party leaders, including former chief minister and member of the parliamentary board BS Yediyurappa, state unit president BY Vijayendra, deputy leader of the opposition in the assembly Aravind Bellad, leader of opposition in the assembly R Ashoka, and leader of opposition in the council Kota Srinivas Poojary, attended a meeting on Wednesday night.

Three to four names were forwarded to the party high leadership for each Lok Sabha seat during the last state core committee meeting in Bengaluru. “The JDS and BJP candidates for each of the 28 LS seats will be revealed simultaneously. Three seats for the JDS and 25 for the BJP are what we anticipate, BJP insiders told TNIE.

BJP MPs from a few other seats, including Bengaluru North, Belagavi, Davanagere, Chitradurga, and Bidar, may not get tickets, according to the sources. S Jaishankar, the Union Minister for External Affairs, may run from Karnataka. Several decades ago, he spent a few months as a probationary officer in Chikkodi. His origins are in Bengaluru. His grandparents were city dwellers. It is said that he is not enthusiastic about running from Karnataka.

A BJP representative said that a poll about the candidates’ winnability factor had been carried out. The party opposes granting tickets to members of parliament who have lost contact with local cadres. Party leadership took into account their performance in parliament as well.

“In addition to these elements, fresh faces that can elevate the celebration will be taken into account. We are developing the leaders of the future. Party members in some constituencies are dissatisfied with their MPs’ efforts. This will be considered as well,” the leader said.
