Numerous Sandeshkhali locations are searched by the Enforcement Directorate

NEW DELHI: On Thursday, the Enforcement Directorate conducted raids at several sites in Sandeshkhali, West Bengal, about the land-grabbing case against Sheikh Shahjahan, the TMC leader who was expelled and is presently being held by the CBI.

In addition to being charged with land encroachment, extortion, and maltreatment of women with his accomplices, Shahjahan is also accused of being involved in the attack on an ED team during a search on his Sandeshkhali property, which is connected to an alleged ration fraud.

Shajahan and his allies were also accused by a number of the island’s women of ‘land-grab and sexual assault’ while under duress.
The West Bengal Police arrested the suspended TMC leader on February 29 after he had been dodging them for about two months.
Later, Sheikh Shahjahan’s custody was handed over to the CBI by the Kolkata Police’s Crime Investigation Department (CID) under the instructions of the Calcutta High Court.
