The pollution board directs the Nalagarh factory’s electricity to be turned off

Officials from the State Pollution Control Board (SPCB), Baddi, today ordered the disconnection of Synergy Telecommunication’s power supply for burning hazardous trash in an open manner at their industrial plant in Manjholli village, Nalagarh. This action was taken with blatant disregard for the environment. The corporation was discovered to be regularly engaging in such mischief, regardless of the air pollution that such an act would cause.

On February 11, board members carried out an inspection in response to concerns from the community. They discovered that rather than disposing of the hazardous waste produced in the factory in the transport storage disposal facility, the unit had burned it. This caused the precincts to produce enormous amounts of harmful smoke.

“There is no safe place to store hazardous and non-hazardous garbage offered by the unit. The unit was discovered to be engaging in this mischief on a regular basis since it had been done the year before as well. Furthermore, the board had received a similar complaint in February 2023 about the burning of processed garbage on the plant’s property, the authorities said.

Weary of the company’s casual demeanor, the Manjholi gram panchayat decided on February 12 to take severe measures against the unit because, after bringing up the matter with the employees, they had not made amends.

According to Praveen Gupta, Chief Engineer, SPCB, Baddi, action for power disconnection under Sections 33-A of the Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1974, and 31-A of the Air (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1981, has been ordered today due to observations of consistent non-compliance with board directions.

Notably, on February 21, 2023, a resident of Manjholi panchayat named Kuldeep Kumar filed a complaint on the CM’s hotline. In it, he claimed that the firm had been burning rubbish for the previous year, which had caused a lot of smoke to fill the region.
