‘Alag Level Hai’: Yashasvi Jaiswal is inspired by ‘Incredible Leader’ Rohit Sharma’s grasp of the game

Recently, Ravichandran Ashwin disclosed how Rohit Sharma helped him when he had to leave the England Test in Rajkot halfway due to a family issue. Now, young Yashasvi Jaiswal has also praised Rohit greatly for supporting his players.

Jaiswal played a player-of-the-series role in the recent Test series between India and England, which the former won 4-1. In nine innings, the youthful starter scored a record 712 runs, including two double-centuries.

“Having Rohit in the dressing room is a great convenience,” Jaiswal said to The Indian Express. It’s been a pleasure to perform for him. There are several instances that I would prefer not to discuss right now. Give it to me. The manner in which he batted, spoke, and supported the players on this voyage. He will support you no matter what occurs. That’s amazing to see in your boss, in my opinion. I’ll keep picking up tips from him.

When Rohit was mistiming his square drives against England offspinners Joe Root and Shoaib Bashir throughout the series, Jaiswal also clarified what Rohit had advised him to do: play straight.

“That shot is not on right now; it would be better to hit straight,” Rohit informed me. I was attempting to hit consistently. I have to admit that nothing escapes his gaze. He has a whole knowledge base. The most important trait is that. He knows what is happening and what is going on. It’s a lot of pleasure to be with him; he’s on another level, Jaiswal said.

Jaiswal believes he backs his game and enjoys playing under duress.

In every game, there is pressure. It was enjoyable for me. I’m rather pleased with how I’ve performed throughout the series. I’ve batted in a variety of styles and performed in various locations. I believe in myself and stand by it. It really helps me,” he said.

IPL 2024 will see Jaiswal make a comeback for the Rajasthan Royals.
