“Colleagues Are Inquiring What’s Going On,” Shreyas Iyer Says of the “Havoc” in the KKR dressing room

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) moved one step closer to the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 knockout stages with yet another impressive performance. At the Ekana Stadium on Sunday, the team led by Shreyas Iyer beat the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) by a score of 98 runs. With 16 points from the victory and the greatest Net Run Rate (NRR) of +1.453, they took the top spot in the points table.

This season, the Knights have been rather reliable, but their captain hasn’t won the coin toss. Despite Iyer losing his eighth wicket in 11 games, KKR’s performance was unaffected, as they collected 235 for six after LSG sent them in to bat. The visitors responded by outscoring KL Rahul & Co. by 137 to carry on their playoff ascent.

The KKR locker room has been discussing the same things, but Iyer won’t be content until his team is winning.

At the post-match presentation, Iyer said, “The last six matches in the dressing room have been chaos. Coworkers are coming in and asking, ‘Skip what’s happening; we are losing tosses,’ but we are winning games; that’s what matters.”

“The powerplay got off to an excellent start. The opponent finds it challenging to deal with a left-right combination. It all comes down to having the freedom to express oneself publicly. We want to approach every scenario with positivity; sometimes things don’t work out, but other times they do,” he said.

KKR was given the opportunity to bat first after losing the toss on Sunday, and they ended up becoming the first side to reach 200 runs at the Ekana stadium. Narine (81 off 38 balls) demonstrated his value with the willow once again by going on a six-hitting rampage, smashing seven maximums and six fours to lead the visitors to 235/6.

The LSG batsmen had to get going right away in order to chase a massive total, but the hosts struggled to hit big smashes and were finally bowled out for 137 in 16.1 overs.
