Due to security concerns, the Hyderabad Cricket Association implores the BCCI to reschedule further World Cup games

Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) has demanded that the future World Cup 2023 matches scheduled on consecutive days be rescheduled by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

On October 9, Hyderabad will play home to a match between New Zealand and the Netherlands, with Pakistan and Sri Lanka playing the next day. HCA has informed BCCI that they won’t be able to provide security on following days.

According to the Indian Express article, HCA has written to BCCI to request a break between two games that are currently slated to be played on consecutive days.

Pakistan was supposed to play Sri Lanka on October 12 according to the earlier World Cup schedule, however the whole tournament was postponed, including Pakistan’s match against India.

The first ODI World Cup 2023 match to be played in Hyderabad will take place on October 6 between Pakistan and the Netherlands.

Hyderabad Police informed the HCA that they would be unable to manage two consecutive games and the necessary security measures, particularly for the Pakistan game. A big number of police officers will be stationed at the hotel where the Pakistani team will be staying, and around 3,000 police officers will be deployed for one game, according to the report.

Nine previous games were moved, including the India vs. Pakistan encounter, which was moved to October 14 a day earlier.

At the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on October 5, the defending champions England and New Zealand will square off.

On October 8, India’s first match of the competition will take place in Chennai against Australia.
