FC Goa wins 0-3 away at Chennaiyin FC in the ISL 2023–24 season

Following two straight wins, Owen Coyle’s Chennaiyin FC was sent a wake-up call as they lost 0-3 to FC Goa in Sunday’s 2023–24 Indian Super League encounter at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Chennai.

FC Goa’s first goal of the game came from Boris Singh Thangjam in the thirteenth minute, and in the twenty-fourth minute, Rowllin Borges increased the margin of victory for the visiting club with a brilliant goal. In the 72nd minute, Udanta Singh scored the third goal.

Although Chennaiyin began the game with a good attitude, FC Goa took the lead thanks to a well-executed volley by Boris Singh after Jay Gupta’s left wing ball. The away squad persisted in applying pressure on Chennaiyin, and they soon expanded their advantage when Rowllin Borges hit a shot that went into the goal from outside the 18-yard line.

Owen Coyle’s team came out swinging in the second half, executing a series of deft passes before Vincy Barretto (58 minutes) struck from the center of the box and just missed the post. The very next minute, Vincy was back in the thick of things when his shot at goal from outside the box struck the left post.

After a wonderful ball from Ryan Edwards, Jordan Murray had a great opportunity to score the opening goal of the game for Chennaiyin FC as he faced goalie Arshdeep Singh one on one. But before Udanta could get the ball beyond the home team’s box and score a fantastic goal to end the game, the goalie made a wonderful stop.

Following the break, on Saturday, November 25, Chennaiyin FC will face East Bengal FC in an attempt to bounce back to winning ways, while on Monday, November 27, FC Goa will play Jamshedpur FC.
