Gaikwad’s intriguing admission about the India T20I squad: “We had a six-hitting competition, those two were far ahead.”

shown impressive performances in India’s recent Twenty20 International (T20I) series against Australia. He scored 223 runs in five matches, including a spectacular century in the third T20I of the series, and was a key factor in India’s triumph. His position as an anchor at the crease proved vital as it allowed explosive batsmen like Rinku Singh, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Suryakumar Yadav, and Ishan Kishan to perform as they were meant to and help India defeat Matthew Wade’s team 4-1 in the series.

Gaikwad said that there was a rivalry among the team members to be the best six-hitter, providing valuable insight into the dynamics of the team during the Australia series. In this friendly match, Rinku Singh and Yashasvi Jaiswal showed off their ability to strike boundaries and emerged as the obvious leaders. In the T20I series against Australia, Rinku, who was the designated finisher in all five matches, had a fantastic strike rate of 175 while Yashasvi had shown an amazing strike rate of 168.29.

“Some of the players engaged in a six-hitting contest during the five-match Twenty20 International series against Australia.” Before the first Twenty20 International match against South Africa, we had little preparation; but, prior to the first game of the series against Australia, we had considerable. Obviously, I would say Rinku and Yashasvi are well ahead of all the rest, as we liked hitting sixes during practice, Gaikwad told Star Sports.

The opening duo of Jaiswal and Gaikwad had a difficult start to the series against Australia; the latter was out of the game without having to face a delivery after getting run out. But the pair showed tenacity and skillfully bounced back, giving India solid beginnings in the games that followed. Yashasvi’s offensive style of play is credited by Gaikwad with making their combination successful, highlighting how it relieves his duty as the opening batter.

He is often the one who attempts to assault Ball 1 with his strokes. Yashasvi is the kind of player that never backs down. All I have to do is calculate a few risks and play the way the team needs me to. It is imperative that I hold the other end and allow Yashasvi to express himself in the manner that he wishes while he is going hard at the other end. “It’s fun to bat with him,” he continued.
