Heartfelt statement on Meg Lanning’s retirement posted by Mithali Raj

After Meg Lanning said goodbye to her 13-year international cricket career on Thursday, former Indian captain Mithali Raj sent a touching message for the captain of Australia.

Early in the morning, Meg, 31, had a press conference where she thanked Cricket Australia and said it was time for her to retire from international cricket.

“Meg, congrats on such a remarkable career! Your record of accomplishments in Australian cricket, and women’s cricket specifically, is legendary. I’ve always appreciated your passion and devotion to the game. Today is a depressing day for cricket across the world. Best wishes for all of your next endeavors. On X, Mithali Raj wrote.

The captain of five World Cups claimed that her 18-month absence from the game, which included two lengthy playing breaks for various reasons, had made it simpler for her to leave after struggling to find the will to continue after a 13-year international career.

In addition to playing for the Delhi Capitals in the WPL, Lanning will still play for the Melbourne Stars in the WBBL and Victoria in the WNCL.

Her last game for Australia was in February of this year, when she helped them win the Women’s T20 World Cup in South Africa, one month after she had returned to the team in January. She also skipped the Women’s Ashes match because of an unidentified health problem.
