India plays Uzbekistan in the AFC U-17 Asian Cup after drawing with Vietnam in the first game

When the Indian juniors take against Uzbekistan in the AFC U-17 Asian Cup on Tuesday in Pathum Thani, they will be motivated by the success of their senior squad in the Intercontinental Cup.

India will face their second Group D encounter with confidence after securing a point, according to head coach Bibiano Fernandes.

India’s U-17 team drew 1-1 with Vietnam to open their season.

It’s crucial that we enter the game against Uzbekistan with calm and assurance, according to Fernandes.

“We already have a point, which is a respectable beginning in my opinion. Currently, all four of the teams in our group are tied on points, so all it would take is one successful outcome to turn the tide in our favour.

India is now last in Group D even though all four teams—Japan, Uzbekistan, Vietnam, and India—have the same number of points.

The Blue Colts have been putting in a lot of work in preparation for their AFC U-17 Asian Cup run, but they have also been watching their senior counterparts, who on Sunday won the Intercontinental Cup by beating Lebanon 2-0 at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar.

Fernandes believes that the youngsters were really motivated by Sunil Chhetri’s team’s effort, particularly in the second half.

“Our lads were definitely inspired by the victory against Lebanon. Our senior squad performed well to rally in the second half to win the game despite playing against a difficult opponent in Lebanon, according to Fernandes.

“Our sons also learned a valuable lesson from it. Before the game against Uzbekistan, it will provide as excellent inspiration.
