India Wins Pool C of the Women’s FIH Hockey5s World Cup 2024 After Beating Poland and the USA

Momtaz Khan (4′, 23′) and Deepika Soreng (6′, 29′) each scored a brace as India defeated Poland in a thrilling match that ended in high scoring. Mumtaz Khan (17′) scored her third goal of the tournament, while Deepika Soreng (23′ 25′) also scored a brace in the second game.

Mariana Kujur (20′ 22′) scored a brace in the match against the USA, after Mahima Chaudhary’s initial goal for India in the 17th minute. The seventh goal of the game was scored by Ajmina Kujur in the 29th minute.

Mumtaz Khan (4′) scored a field goal early in the first half to give the Indian Women’s Team a quick lead in the Poland match. A few minutes later, Deepika Soreng (6′) quickly extended the advantage with another field goal.

Five minutes remained in the first half when field goals by Poland’s Marlena Rybacha (10′) and Julia Kucharska (8′) reduced India’s advantage to 2-2. India had taken a 3-2 lead at the interval, and Mumtaz Khan (14′) had returned to score her second goal.

The match was calm early on, as both sides prevented each other from scoring any goals in the first half of the second half. However, because to some outstanding passing, India was able to keep Poland under pressure. With an opportunity to increase India’s advantage, Mariana Kujur (23′) delivered, and her outstanding finish helped them win 4-2.

With three minutes left, Paula Slawinska (27′) intercepted an Indian pass and scored to reduce the goal deficit to one. However, Deepika Soreng (29′) scored shortly after, giving India a two-goal lead once again. Monika Polewczak (29′) scored quickly to make it 5-4 in India’s advantage with just one minute left. By holding onto their advantage, the Indian Women’s Team won the game 5–4.
