IPL 2024: JioCinema Reveals Starry Newcomers to Their Superstar Galaxy

The next celebrities to join JioCinema’s stellar panel of experts for the 2024 Indian Premier League were revealed on Tuesday. The most popular athletic festival in India will be available to supporters and spectators for free on JioCinema in the following 12 languages: Bengali, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, English, Hindi, Marathi, Gujarati, Bhojpuri, Punjabi, and Haryanvi.

One of the most devastating openers in history, Virender Sehwag, will be the star of JioCinema’s newly launched Haryanvi language presentation in a never-before-seen avatar. As a Gujarati language specialist, Ajay Jadeja will make his debut. The MI Emirates batting coach and former captain of India will also be featured on Hindi and Hangout broadcasts.

Shane Watson, the winner of the Indian Premier League, Mike Hesson, a former coach in New Zealand and the Director of Cricket at Royal Challengers Bangalore, Sehwag, and Jadeja will all be added, strengthening JioCinema’s core offering of giving fans access to key players who, until recently, shared the dressing room with elite franchises.

Following his time as a player for the Delhi Daredevils and Kings XI Punjab, Sehwag joined the Punjab team as a coach. His humorous best will be on display for fans, this time in Haryanvi. In the Haryanvi broadcast, Manvinder Bisla—the 2012 IPL Final’s man of the match—will also appear with Sehwag.

Following his championship runs with the Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals, Watson is back in the IPL with JioCinema. In his first season with the Royals, he was named Player of the Tournament, and his match-winning 117* for CSK against Sunrisers Hyderabad in the 2018 Final is still regarded as one of the greatest runs in IPL history.

One of cricket’s most brilliant brains, Mike Hesson, will continue to work with JioCinema as an analyst throughout the IPL. After serving as head of cricket operations for the Royal Challengers Bangalore and coach of Kings XI Punjab, the Kiwi professional will be seated next to some of the most famous players he has taught in the IPL, like as AB de Villiers and Chris Gayle.

“We are doubling down on our innovations and initiatives for IPL 2024 after receiving such a positive response from our viewers, advertisers, and cricket enthusiasts for our deep and wide presentation of the IPL 2023,” said Siddharth Sharma, Viacom18 Sports Head of Content. “With bigger names and deeper engagement with core, casual, and curious fans through unique propositions like Hero Cam, Viral Weekends, and the introduction of Haryanvi feed headlined by the iconic Virender Sehwag, we continue to elevate the experience this season.”

JioCinema will provide a total of 18 streams this year, taking use of the flexibility and options that come with digital. These feeds include the highly-liked Insiders and Hangout feeds from last year, the recently launched Hero Cam feed, and a brand-new offering dubbed Viral Weekend. Every weekend starting in 2024, JioCinema will host over 100 well-known social media content producers from all around the country, each with its own unique flair, to spark debates, stories, and teasing on the nation’s largest sports offering alongside celebrity experts.

With the addition of Hero Cam to JioCinema this season, viewers can now follow not just all the action in real time but also the game’s greatest hero as it progresses. This provides fans a continuous, up-close, and personal look at how their favorites play the game and makes them feel even closer to them in between games. There will also be an increased selection of camera perspectives available to viewers.

The fundamental idea of JioCinema, which is to make the IPL more accessible to viewers by offering them a glimpse into unseen stories, anecdotes, and conversations from dressing rooms, is the foundation of the Insiders feed. These narratives are told by JioCinema’s renowned empanelled experts, who until recently crossed paths with current players from various teams. As live action unfolds on screen, fans will be able to grasp the gameplay’s mental process by peering inside the player’s head from the perspective of an expert.

Popular stand-up comedians like Angad Singh, Vipul Goyal, Aaditya Kulshreshth, and Shashi Dhiman, among others, and new-age content makers will provide fans with a fun and humorous perspective on the fiercely competitive game on the Hangout broadcast. This channel, which will include classic IPL action, could increase the number of viewers for the league by attracting new viewers and non-sports fans.
