PCB ‘Rectifies’ Mistake After Serious Backlash, Adding Imran Khan in New ODI World Cup Video

For the promotional campaign running up to the ODI World Cup 2023, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has at last unveiled a brand-new film depicting the cricketing adventure. The PCB received criticism for leaving famous captain Imran Khan out of an earlier film that was shared online, but they have now made amends and added the leader of the 1992 World Cup-winning team in the new video that was published on August 17.

The PCB published a movie for their 77th Independence Day that included many scenes from their historic journey on the cricket field, where they highlighted a number of cricket superstars and their memorable moments. Imran, the crucial player who helped Pakistan win the ODI World Cup in 1992, was conspicuously absent from the film. The board had to broadcast a fresh film on Thursday as a result of criticism from cricket fans and former players.

As the board noted that the prior film was shortened owing to length, PCB included a few clips of Imran from the 1992 World Cup in Melbourne to the most recent version.

“The PCB has started a marketing campaign in preparation for the CWC 2023. On August 14, 2023, one of the videos was posted online. The video was shortened since it was too long, and several crucial portions were left out. The full version of the movie has been fixed, according to the PCB’s captions.

Wasim Akram, a renowned Pakistani bowler and Imran’s former teammate, has criticized the PCB over Imran’s absence.

“I had the shock of my life when I saw PCB’s little documentary on the history of Pakistan cricket without the great Imran Khan after many flights and hours of transit before arriving in Sri Lanka… Regardless of political issues, Imran Khan is a legend in cricket who transformed Pakistan into a potent team during his reign and provided us with a route to success. Wasim Akram wrote on Wednesday that PCB need to remove the video and apologize.

Due to “corrupt practices,” the former Pakistani prime minister was given a three-year jail term and barred from participating in politics. Following the announcement of the court’s decision in the Toshakhana case, he left his home.
