Before the 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL), the captain of the Chennai Super Kings, MS Dhoni, is hard-training to go back on the pitch and is already smashing the ball out of the stadium.

Dhoni isn’t getting any younger—he will be 43 in July—and there are growing rumors that this IPL season may be his last one as a player. Though there were uncertainties over his availability for the IPL, “Thala” Dhoni had surgery in Mumbai last year and recovered.

A video of MS Dhoni striking big sixes at the M. A. Chidambaram Stadium went viral on social media.

To start getting ready for the new season, Dhoni recently made his way back to Chepauk Stadium in Chennai, his second home. A video of MS Dhoni sprinting that CSK had released quickly went viral and broke the internet.

Due to a knee injury, Dhoni was unable to compete in the 2023 Indian Premier League and was often seen hobbling. He had surgery in Mumbai to treat the issue as soon as the season concluded.

Dhoni-captained Last year, CSK defeated the Gujarat Titans in an incredible final hosted at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad to win their sixth IPL championship. With that, CSK and the Mumbai Indians tied for the most championships won.

When the skipper will end his IPL career is yet unknown, however. He had previously made hints about wanting to lower the yellow drapes in a unique way. But it’s unclear what exactly he has in store.

In 2022, the Super Kings appointed Ravindra Jadeja as captain. However, after a string of defeats, the left-arm spinner resigned from the position halfway through the competition and returned Dhoni to command.
