On Holi, more than 3,000 people in the city dial 112, with the highest number in the Uttar Pradesh

Lucknow: During the festival of colours, the district police unit was alert due to up to 3,375 distress calls pertaining to Holi celebrations between March 24 and 26 (till midnight). Of all the districts in Uttar Pradesh, Lucknow had the most dial 112 calls (3,375 complaints).
These complaints included calls for ambulances, loud music, traffic problems, intoxicated driving, and other Holi-related difficulties.

 

Senior law enforcement officials said that traffic accidents accounted for the bulk of calls, with loud music disruptions coming in second.
42 two-wheeled and 72 four-wheeled police reaction vehicles patrolled the streets of Lucknow throughout the event.
In the meantime, 1,920 complaints were received in Varanasi; they were followed by 1,870 in Gorakhpur, 1,618 in Kanpur, and 1,344 in Prayagraj. There were just 81 Dial 112 calls in Shravasti district during this time, making it the most tranquil.
