The government of Uttar Pradesh will renovate older secondary schools

On Tuesday, the Uttar Pradesh government announced plans to restore all of the state’s secondary schools’ outdated and deteriorating structures. During a cabinet meeting presided over by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, a decision to this effect was made. Finance Minister Suresh Khanna provided information on the cabinet decision, stating that the government would cover 75% of the repair costs and the school will cover the other 25%.

Additionally, schools are free to pay their portion of the reconstruction costs out of corporate social responsibility (CSR) money. He said that money might be obtained from MP and MLA monies for the large project. According to the minister, a similar program was in place last year as well, under which the government and the school management committee were each required to cover 50% of the cost of renovations. He stated that changes were made to raise the government’s portion to 75% since schools participated less in the previous program.

The government will start with schools that are over 50 years old under the most recent reconstruction plan, which is also relevant to private schools, before moving on to schools that are 40 and 30 years old, according to a statement from the government. The announcement also said that among other restoration projects, special emphasis will be dedicated to the building of floors, roofs, and separate restrooms for females. Khanna shared information on other choices made in the cabinet meeting and said that the government would speed up the identification procedure for guests.

He said, “The decision was made in response to complaints about hotels renting rooms to patrons without legitimate identity proofs.”
