A British couple quits their jobs to live on a yacht and raise their kids

Many individuals choose to spend their time on the seas by taking a month-long cruise. However, this British couple made the decision to live only on the ocean and give up their land existence. Because of their yacht-turned-home.

According to the New York Post, British couple Laura and Ross Colledge decided to travel because they felt “too disconnected” as a family. Laura said that her husband felt he could not devote much of his time to his children’s upbringing since he worked more than fifty hours a week. He felt that our kids’ early years were passing by in front of our eyes and that he was missing a lot, the woman claims.

Their goal was to “make them more worldly” by providing their kids with “an exciting, adventurous, non-consumerist upbringing.” They fulfilled their children’s educational demands while doing this. According to further claims, one of their boys may be a high-functioning autistic who was diagnosed with ADHD.

They took out a second mortgage on their refurbished home and purchased a 2005 Bavaria 42 yacht in order to begin their life at sea. They then relocated to Greece in the summer of 2019 to begin their maritime voyage from Mykonos.

The family traveled from Mykonos to the Dodecanese and Aegean islands before arriving in the Ionian Islands. “We have both been water babies as surfers and kayakers in Newquay for many years, so the ocean has always drawn us in,” Laura said, referring to their previous lives.

They have been living on Greek waters for the last five years, enjoying their unique and erratic way of life. Laura says that it’s hard to stick to a schedule. Since the weather might vary dramatically in a short amount of time, they must adapt to changes like chameleons.

Laura is the first mate, and her husband, Ross, is now the captain. More details reveal that they are directors of the exercise and wellness website BoatFit. While their youngest kid, Noah, is being homeschooled, their oldest son, Josh, has been accepted to an online secondary school.
