Bengaluru Married Woman Loses Rs 12 Lakh To Online Friend
Online friendships may be rather expensive at times. After losing more than Rs 12 lakh, a Bengaluru lady discovered this lesson. The lady told the police that she had met the guy in January 2022, two years before. The woman further disclosed to the authorities that she used to often communicate and converse on the phone with her internet acquaintances. Over time, the guy began to stop by her house during her husband’s workdays. She also disclosed to the detectives that she didn’t agree with the man’s demands for her to get intimate.
In the end, the guy asked the lady for additional money after borrowing Rs 5 lakh from her. The guy persuaded her to give him three necklaces, six bangles, and a pendant when she subsequently admitted to him that she had run out of money. The total cost of all these decorations was Rs 7.2 lakh. The guy pleaded for additional time when the lady demanded the borrowed money and jewelry. He also paid the lady a visit at her home two weeks ago and even physically abused her. The guy went on to demand one lakh rupees. The guy threatened to divulge their acquaintance to her husband as a kind of blackmail when she declined to pay him additional money. After that, the Bengaluru lady filed a police complaint against the guy with the assistance of her brother.
The Times of India said that the police received a complaint from a 35-year-old Bengaluru resident who had lost over 7.2 lakhs in jewelry and Rs 5 lakhs in cash to an internet buddy. An investigating officer was reported by TOI as saying, “We registered a case under IPC Sections 354 C (voyeurism), 384 (extortion), and 420 (cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property).”
