The mother of the Truecaller product director calls India her favorite vacation spot

Szymon Kopec, a senior executive of Truecaller from Poland, said that his mother’s recent trip to India altered her viewpoint. The Vande Bharat Express Train dispelled the misconceptions of India, which are frequently associated with slums and crammed trains, according to Kopec, the product director of the caller ID app. He told his mother how the Indian IT scene astounded him, and she was equally astounded when he showed her the plethora of applications available for every purpose.

Despite their limited language skills, Kopec and his mother had a great time interacting with the people and had no negative experiences at all. Even though Kopec has been living in India for four years, his mother had never been there before and had fallen in love. She now pitches India to their family as her dream vacation spot.

He added, “She’s heard a lot about the country from me and read about it in Polish media, yet everything around here was shocking,” recounting her mother’s experience on X. The ordinary activities, like grocery shopping and cab journeys, were interesting. She arrived with the intention of buying “curry spice” for my sister and expressed surprise that there were several varieties. She was in awe of the greenery, taking around a billion pictures of weeds and plants in the most unlikely locations. In Europe, indoor plants need a great deal of care.

Sadly, the majority of Poland’s perception of India is one of packed trains, slums, and people hanging from roofs. By arriving on schedule, Vande Bharat dispelled a few myths. The same is true of Delhi and its lush, well-kept neighborhoods. The IT environment astounded her. We’re so far behind in Poland in this area, but here I’ve shown her that there’s an app for pretty much everything she can think of, along with six options from rival companies,” Szymon Kopec said.

Kopec went on to discuss the gaps in their understanding of Indian history taught in schools and emphasized how seeing famous sites like the Taj Mahal and Jaipur’s forts offered a fascinating look into the nation’s rich pre-colonial past. In spite of the language barrier, his mother found that contacts with locals had a lasting effect and she enjoyed their generosity. After coming back home, Kopec said that his mother is still pushing India as the perfect vacation spot.

Truecaller co-founder Nami Zarringhalam responded to Szymon Kopec’s article by sharing his own happy memories of traveling to India in February with his mother. Zarringhalam said that his mother had also made her first visit, and much like Kopec’s mother, she had been thrilled and was eager to learn more. They traveled to places like Delhi, Hyderabad, Mumbai, and Agra at that period. It’s interesting to note that his mother was taken aback to learn of the many parallels between Iran and India.
