Over the last three years, ESG-Related Jobs Have Increased Remarkably: Report

According to a survey released on Monday, there has been a striking increase in the number of environment, social, and governance (ESG)-related occupations over the last three years, which is evidence of the increased emphasis on sustainability and corporate responsibility in the Indian employment market.

According to a survey by the international job portal Indeed, employment in the ESG industry increased in India by more than 223% between April 2019 and April 2023.

This study is based on information gathered from job advertisements and searches conducted between 2019 and 2023 on Indeed’s platform.

According to the survey, the demand from job searchers has increased over the last 12 months.

According to the data, job searches for sustainability positions grew by 31% between April 2022 and 2023, the fastest rise in the previous three years.

According to the increased demand for ESG-related employment, today’s workers, particularly the younger ones, give environmental and social issues a lot more weight than they did in the past.

According to Indeed India Head of Sales Sashi Kumar, “the world of work now seems to be very involved and leveraging employees’ passion areas across the ESG space.”

Despite this enormous growth, it was reported that the number of job ads for ESG positions fell by 22% in 2022.

This suggests that although sustainability formerly played a significant role in organisational objectives as a result of the epidemic, it may have cooled down over the last year, according to the analysis.

The survey also showed that other Southeast Asian nations like Singapore and Malaysia, which had a rise in ESG job listings of 146% and 139%, respectively, over the last three years, are seeing a trend comparable to that found in India.

Similar to India, both of these nations reported a drop in ESG-related job posts last year, with Singapore experiencing a 29% drop and Malaysia having a 10% drop.

However, the demand from job searchers increased significantly in Singapore and Malaysia during the last three years, by 71% and 111%, respectively.
