Javed Akhtar responds, saying, “53 years ke career mein tum,” to Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s criticism of Farhan’s Mirzapur

Screenwriter and lyricist Javed Akhtar responded to Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s reply to his critique of Ranbir Kapoor’s Animal. In an interview with Mojo Story, Javed made it clear that while Sandeep is free to make as many films as he wants, the filmmaker hasn’t seen any weaknesses in Javed’s 53-year filmmaking career.

“I was not criticizing the filmmaker at all,” Javed said. He should be able to create both one and many animals in a democratic society, in my opinion. It was the crowd, not the filmmaker, that worried me. He is free to produce any kind of movie.

In response to Vamga’s remark on Mirzapur, he said, “I felt honored when he replied to me. Throughout my 53-year career, he was unable to locate even a single movie, screenplay, scene, conversation, or song. He was thus required to go to my son’s workplace and locate a TV series that Farhan did not appear, direct, or write. It was made by his firm. These massive corporations, like as Excel, are generating a lot of goods these days. Thus, this is one of them. That was mentioned by him. I was really delighted by it. What sexist thing could you possibly have found in my 53 years of professional experience? How unfortunate.

For the benefit of the uninitiated, Akhtar said in December 2023, “If there’s a film in which a man asks a woman to lick his shoe or if a man says it’s okay to slap a woman… and the film is a super hit, that’s dangerous.” Akhtar did not reveal anyone’s identity. Since Tripti Dimri, who portrayed Zoya in the movie with Bobby Deol and Anil Kapoor, was seen requesting Ranbir Kapoor to kiss his shoe, everyone felt that this was a subtle jab at Animal.

Subsequently, Vanga suggested to Siddharth Kanan that Javed Akhtar, who developed the online series Mirzapur, ought to have asked his son Farhan Akhtar the same issue. “It is evident that he (Akhtar) did not see the movie,” he said. It’s evident from his response that he didn’t see the full movie. Although this photo seems to be from a long time ago, it is still relevant today. He’s talking about my work, so of course I’ll feel horrible. Vo jo bhi ho, regular critic ho, or finest of the authors in the world. It’s not only about him; before tossing a stone at any artwork, shouldn’t everybody consider their surroundings?”

He went on to say, “Did he tell Farhan Akhtar the same thing while he was making Mirzapur? Jitna gaaliyan hai pura duniya bhar vo Mirzapur ek show mein hai. I haven’t seen the whole program. I also witnessed around fifteen moments, and you would feel like throwing up when you see such scenes in Telugu. Why doesn’t he review his son’s work?
