“Never Seen Gulmarg So Dry In Winter”: Omar Abdullah Regarding Lack of Snow

Delhi, New: The famed winter sports resort of Gulmarg in India has undoubtedly suffered a significant blow to its tourist sector due to the season’s dry spell. Not only are visitors offended by it, but residents are as well.
Omar Abdullah, the head of the National Conference, stated he had “never seen Gulmarg so dry in winters”. He shared this on his official X account, which was once Twitter, along with two older photos that were shot the same day.

He also said that the summer will be “miserable” if it doesn’t snow soon.

“Gulmarg has never seemed so parched in the winter. In order to provide some context, here are two old photos that were both shot on January 6th. It will be a horrible summer if there isn’t some snowfall soon. Not to mention enthusiastic skiers like myself who are eager to hit the slopes but find nothing to ski,” he said.

The snow-covered slopes of Gulmarg are well-known and draw skiers from all across the nation. This winter, there wasn’t much snowfall there, which has many worried about how global warming would affect India’s winters.

The village seems dry and desolate in a video released on X by news agency ANI on January 8. The only apparent snow patches are on the town’s sparsely covered land.

Not only did Gulmarg get less snow than usual, but Pahalgam in Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand were also affected.
