Putin, the president of Russia, claims that 95% of the country’s nuclear arsenal has been updated

MOSCOW: Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Friday that the Air Force has just received four new bombers with the capacity to carry nuclear weapons above the supersonic speed limit, accounting for 95% of the country’s strategic nuclear assets.
A day after flying aboard a modernized Tu-160M nuclear-capable strategic bomber, Putin made the remarks in a statement published to coincide with Russia’s traditional Defender of the Fatherland Day, which honors the armed forces.

The Russian president lauded the troops engaged in what he described as a “special military operation” in Ukraine, calling them heroes who were fighting for “truth and justice.”
However, he spent a large portion of his address discussing what he claimed to be the successes of the military-industrial complex.
His message was that Russia’s nuclear triad—its strategic nuclear capabilities for the air, sea, and land—was current, under ongoing modernization, and in excellent working condition.
“Incorporating our real combat experience, we will continue to strengthen the Armed Forces in every possible way, including ongoing re-equipping and modernisation efforts,” Putin said.
“Today, the share of modern weapons and equipment in the strategic nuclear forces has already reached 95 percent, while the naval component of the ‘nuclear triad’ is at almost 100 percent,” he said.
