26 Parties Form an Alliance Called “I-N-D-I-A” Against the BJP-Led NDA as the Battle for 2024 Gets Under Way

The 26 opposition parties formed the “Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance” (INDIA) coalition on Tuesday, laying the groundwork for a united front against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections and issuing a call to arms for the fight for their vision of India.

The message of the unified Opposition is straightforward: India vs. the NDA and India vs. Narendra Modi.

The nation is used to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s oratory, since he has created several catchphrases over the previous nine years, and the Opposition now seems to have copied him verbatim. The Opposition has made life difficult for the BJP and Modi by designating their alliance as INDIA. In what way will they criticize India in their speeches? How would they announce on stage that the BJP and NDA will defeat India?

The Opposition has banded together under the name INDIA in an effort to maintain their concept of India, which is still undefined due to internal conflicts.

Rahul Gandhi, a Congress scion, said at a news conference held after the two-day brainstorming session that they carefully considered their opponents. He said that the conflict is one over India’s voice, not one between the Government and the Opposition. India is the result, thus.

The name of the alliance, which is sure to increase electoral fervor, was unanimously adopted by the 26 parties despite internal disagreements.

11 people will make up India’s coordinating panel.
In a news conference on Tuesday, Congress President Mallikarjuna Kharge, who presided over the opposition gathering in Bengaluru, said that the INDIA coalition will have an 11-member coordination committee that would be unveiled shortly.

In addition, the INDIA alliance will establish a common secretariat in Delhi for coordinated campaigning, according to Kharge, the leader of the opposition in the Rajya Sabha.

The date of the next meeting, which would take place in Mumbai, was also disclosed by Kharge. He said that the coalition’s name was decided by consensus. According to Kharge, there will be discussion on the coordination committee’s convener during the Mumbai meeting.

Even while the Opposition united behind a name, neither the coalition’s face nor a shared agenda have yet to materialize. Kharge did, however, seem to address some of the grouping’s internal inconsistencies. He said that the groups that make up INDIA have placed their internal conflicts in the background rather than in the front.

Uddhav Thackeray, ham hain na
Former Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray used the phrase “ham hain na” (we are here), which is taken from the popular Shah Rukh Khan movie, to comfort the nation.

Uddhav compared the struggle against Modi to the struggle for independence and said that the nation is now experiencing tyranny under Modi.

Uddhav responded to the claim that the 26 Opposition parties have united in order to rescue families by stating that the nation is unquestionably their family and that they have joined together in order to preserve that family.

It’s India vs. Modi, and it’s for India’s voice: Mr. Gandhi
Rahul Gandhi, the head of the Congress, said that the alliance INDIA fights for the voice of India and upholds the concept of India.

Rahul added that the battle is against the BJP’s ideology, which he claimed is undermining the country, expanding unemployment, and giving away the nation’s riches to a small group of individuals.

Rahul said that they spoke about who they would be fighting throughout their conversations. He said that the Government and the Opposition are not at war.

“NDA vs INDIA. India vs Modi,” said Rahul.

Rahul said that “whenever someone stands against India, you know who wins,” and that the coalition will shortly provide an action plan for their conception of India.

Resolution from India calls for a caste census and condemns violence against minorities
The joint resolution from India, known as “Samuhik Sankalp,” called for a caste census and addressed concerns including violence against minorities and the predicament in Manipur, where ethnic unrest has been rife for more than two months.

According to the resolution, the 26 opposition parties have united to combat “hatred and violence being manufactured against minorities” in addition to “rising crimes against women, Dalits, tribals, and Kashmiri Pandits,” according to PTI.

The “humanitarian tragedy” that has “destroyed” Manipur drew “grave concern” from the opposition parties. In the past, Modi has come under fire from the opposition parties for being mute on Manipur.

The Modi administration, according to the resolution, is eroding federal institutions, while governors in states where the opposition is in power go above and beyond their responsibilities.

“There is a conscious effort to undermine our polity’s federal framework. According to PTI, the resolution declared that “the role of governors and LGs (lieutenant governors) in non-BJP ruled states has exceeded all constitutional norms.” It also stated that the opposition parties have accused the BJP government of “brazenly misusing” its agencies against political rivals, which they claim is undermining democracy.

The Opposition has recently claimed that federal agencies like the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), which are investigating many opposition leaders, are being used as a sword-arm of the ruling party and that the arrests and investigations of opposition leaders are motivated by politics.

In their resolution on the economy, the opposition parties focused on the effects of demonetisation, as well as unemployment and price increases.

“We reinforce our resolve to confront the grave economic crisis of ever-rising prices of necessities and record unemployment,” the resolution said. Demonetization caused tremendous suffering to the MSME and unorganized sectors, leading to a significant increase in young unemployment. The rash selling of the nation’s riches to favored cronies is something we condemn.

“We must create an equitable economy with both a competitive and thriving private sector and a strong and strategic public sector, in which the spirit of entrepreneurship is encouraged and given every chance to grow. The well-being of Kisan and Khet Mazdur should always take precedence.

In the resolution, it was stated that the parties had joined together to “defeat the hatred and violence being manufactured against minorities” as well as violence against women and minorities.

“We have come together to defeat the hatred and violence being manufactured against minorities; stop the rising crimes against women, Dalits, adivasis, and Kashmiri Pandits; demand a fair hearing for all socially, economically, and educationally backward communities; and, as a first step, implement the caste census,” read the resolution passed by the 26 Opposition parties in Bengaluru, which claimed they did so “in one voice” at the meeting.
