“Bandicoot” to assist with Doon manhole cleaning

Dehradun: To address the dangerous working circumstances that manhole cleaners encounter, the Uttarakhand Jal Sansthan (UJS) has tested a robotic cleaning system.
The Bandicoot robot, which cleans manholes, had its first state-wide testing on Friday at Dilaram Chowk. For Rs 36.7 lakh, Dehradun Smart City purchased the device from a tech business located in Kerala.

According to Ashish Bhatt, executive engineer of UJS, “the machine operates at depths of up to eight meters, effectively clearing clogged sewer systems.””We’ve successfully completed a trial run and will shortly begin using it for operations. This will assist lessen the need for human involvement since it is a first for the state, Bhatt said. Officials from smart city projects said that these programs would update the state’s manhole and sewer cleaning procedures.
According to information provided to the MP High Court, the state government of MP would announce the No manhole sewer chamber policy within ten days. Advocate Akash Chaudhary was named by the court as an amicus curiae in the case. The hearing has been postponed until February 7.
Four ‘ABHYAS’ flight trials were successfully completed by DRDO from Chandipur in Odisha. The system is currently prepared for manufacturing and possible export. Rajnath Singh, the minister of defence, commended Chairman Samir V Kamat and the DRDO for their work.
