Cong Leader Sachin Pilot Applauds Reconstituted CWC for Being “Very Balanced, Good Mix of Youth and Experience”

The reformed CWC, according to Congress leader Sachin Pilot, is “very balanced” and has a “good mix” of youth and experience. Pilot further emphasized the importance of the Hyderabad meeting of the party’s top decision-making body in light of the approaching state elections.

Pilot, who joined other newcomers like Shashi Tharoor in last month’s reconstituted Congress Working Committee (CWC), claimed he has always performed any duties given to him by the party with the utmost sincerity, but that his “heart lies in Rajasthan” and that is where he “can add most value.”

Pilot said in an exclusive interview with PTI that since it is the biggest party in the alliance, the Congress must take a “leading role” in the INDIA bloc, but added that everyone in the coalition is treated with respect.

Pilot stated of the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA): “It is not about who holds whatever position of authority or job; all those concerns will be addressed at the proper time, maybe even after the Lok Sabha elections.

When asked whether the Congress will serve as the opposition alliance’s pivot, as it did under the UPA, the former Union minister said that although each member of the coalition had a job to play, the Congress was the biggest party in Parliament and that size matters in a democracy.

“Every member of INDIA is a vital player with a responsibility to play. It is about the problems that unite everyone, not about certain individuals or political parties. The 46-year-old leader said that all of those issues, which have a significant impact on all of us, are important. “It’s about protecting the constitutional bodies, about institutions having the freedom and independence that is so important, about the blatant misuse of agencies against the opposition, and about having a government that doesn’t debate, discuss, or deliberate matters of national importance.

Because it is the biggest party in the coalition, the Congress party must take the lead. However, Pilot stressed that what matters most is that everyone respects one another’s political sensibilities.

Pilot said the reconstituted CWC complied with the standards outlined in the Udaipur proclamation as he spoke about it ahead of its inaugural meeting on Saturday in Hyderabad. “As a national party, we must examine leaders from all regions of the nation, including the northeast, Jammu and Kashmir, and other areas. Mr. Mallikarjun Kharge, the party’s leader, has assembled a working group that is quite well-balanced, according to Pilot.

“Of course, it represents all regional aspirations and has a good mix of experience and young people who are going to contribute meaningfully,” he added.

Pilot said that the panel’s emphasis has been on Dalits, ST, OBCs, minorities, and new faces, and that it was established after the party authorized the AICC head to appoint one. “It is fairly balanced, and some very senior individuals have been included. The party will benefit from it, he added.

When questioned about his entry into the CWC and whether or not Rajasthan remains his primary concern, Pilot said that for more than 20 years, he has performed all duties given to him by the party with the greatest seriousness.

“However, Rajasthan is where my heart is, and that is where I can be most useful. I would undoubtedly carry out any request from the party, but my top objective will be to stop the 30-year BJP-Congress cycle and reinstate the Congress administration in Rajasthan, the politician stated.

Pilot said that the CWC is the highest decision-making body of the Congress where all matters of national significance need to be brought up to hold the current administration of the day responsible when asked about the discussions that will occur when the CWC meets on Saturday and at the extended CWC meeting on Sunday. Additionally, he said, the plan for both the next state elections and the subsequent Lok Sabha elections would be firmed up.

Given the several elections that will take place in November and December, he added, this CWC conference in Hyderabad would be essential in determining the direction the Congress will take over the next few months. “I eagerly anticipate these encounters in Hyderabad. Work will be done by the working group with increased vigor and enthusiasm.and this bodes good for the future of the Congress,” he said.

In response to a question about the Congress’ prospects in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections compared to those in 2014 and 2018, he noted that every election is unique and that the public has now had a complete majority administration for more than nine years. The success of the BJP administration during the last ten years will be taken into consideration while casting ballots in the 2024 elections. “It won’t be an election on divisive, emotionally charged issues; it will be centered on development issues, people’s concerns about inflation and price increases, the enormous gap between the rich and the poor, and nine years of governance, which will matter,” he added.

Pilot said that the current administration has “failed to perform” despite all of its sloganeering and media manipulation. On the other side, the INDIA bloc has finally come together in full force and practically the whole opposition has joined united after a very long time. The elections in 2024 will be crucial… coming together of the opposition parties is surely raising alarm bells in the BJP,” he added.

Pilot further stated the NDA had “collapsed” as parties that were there with the BJP in 2019, were not there with it anymore. We are in a strong position to beat the BJP, he said.

Pilot said, “We all know that on the eve of the 2019 polls there was a different mood because of the challenges at the border, it was a different period. Despite winning well in the state polls, the Congress had fared poorly in the national elections. Now that the BJP administration has been in power for about ten years, we have witnessed how events have developed during those years, whether it be the economic downturn, the wealth gap between the affluent and the poor, or the inflation that is affecting even the upper middle class.

“The young people are losing faith, and the agrarian community feels duped. Small-scale enterprises are under extreme pressure, and there is an unprecedented exodus of wealthy people from our nation, he said.

The triumph in Himachal Pradesh, according to Pilot, dispelled the myth that the BJP was unconquerable in the north. He emphasized that the party also won Karnataka following that. The dual-engine Sarkar has broken down. I believe we will prevail in the next state elections in Mizoram, Telangana, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Madhya Pradesh. When we go to the elections in 2024, such victories will undoubtedly boost the morale of our employees, he remarked.

People are starting to have faith that the INDIA bloc would defeat the BJP’s opposition. “The Bharat Jodo Yatra was symbolic of what the Congress and the INDIA bloc stands for and wants to achieve — harmony, peace, brotherhood, progressive thinking, inclusive economic policies, and a forward-looking agenda by which India can become a top-ranking nation in the world,” Pilot said.
