Farmers in Haryana would rally all khaps’ support to intensify the protest

At a meeting held today at the farmers’ dharna site in Titoli village, a number of khap leaders resolved to rally the support of all other khap panchayats operating in the state to bolster the farmers’ movement in Haryana as well.

The gathering also decided to strive toward increasing public involvement at the Dharna site in order to demonstrate to the BJP administrations in the state and at the federal level the power of farmers. Various agricultural outfit office bearers attended the gathering as well.

Leaders of various agricultural companies and the khaps of Kundu, Ahlawat, Rathi, Nandal, and Hooda reviewed the current condition of affairs and resolved to get support for the agitation from other khaps operating in other districts of the state. Even if there are more and more people at the dharna place every day, the decision was made to guarantee that as many residents of the surrounding villages as possible participated, according to Kundu Khap President Jaivir Singh.

He stated that another decision made at the meeting was to get in touch with the leaders of other khaps as soon as possible to persuade them to call a combined meeting of all khap panchayats to discuss the current state of affairs in a few days. He said, “The meeting also denounced the police action against the farmers at the Punjab borders.”

“It was unanimously decided by all khap and farm leaders not to hold dharna anywhere else in the Rohtak district except Titoli,” Jaivir said.

A female farm leader named Monika Raman Nain said that the khap leaders had pledged to provide the farmers with all the support they needed to intensify their protest, even as they expressed sympathy with their demands.

Leaders of well-known khaps in the Rohtak district came to our dharna place today and officially declared their support for the first time. We talk about the issue on a daily basis and are in continuous communication with our colleagues in Punjab,” she said.

She claimed that all of the demonstrators at the dharna site were in a state of readiness and would act quickly to carry out the instructions they had received from Punjab borders pertaining to the current agricultural protest.
