In an international trafficking case, NCB apprehends a drug dealer based in Tamil Nadu and an ex-DMK official

In a coordinated operation with the Delhi Police’s Special Cell, the NCB and the authorities in Tamil Nadu detained Jaffer Sadiq, a suspected drug dealer, on Saturday in relation to the drugs trafficking case involving Australia, New Zealand, and India.

The governing DMK recently kicked Sadiq, a producer of Tamil movies, out of the party. He served as the NRI wing of the DMK’s deputy organizer for Chennai West.

He is the “mastermind and kingpin,” according to the NCB, of a global drug trafficking network that spans Australia, New Zealand, and India.

Three of Sadiq’s assistants, Mukesh (34) Mujibur Rahman (26) and Ashok Kumar (33) were taken into custody by the federal anti-drug agency on February 15. The agency also found 50 kg of pseudoephedrine, a substance used to make drugs, during a search at a godown in Delhi.

Since then, the NCB has been searching for Sadiq and has searched Tamil Nadu homes connected to him.

Three people were detained last month, and during questioning, it was revealed by the sources that Sadiq was close to Udhayanidhi Stalin, the sports minister for Tamil Nadu and the son of chief minister MK Stalin, as well as other DMK leaders, such as Rajya Sabha MP MM Abdullah and the party’s district secretary for Chennai West, N Chitrarasu.

An official said, “They also disclosed that Sadiq had shipped 45 shipments over the previous three years, totaling about 3,500 kg of pseudoephedrine, valued at more than Rs 2,000 crore.”
