Justice League: Election suit filed by Chada Venkat Reddy denied

The election of Satish Kumar Vodithela from the Husnabad Assembly seat in 2018 was contested in an election petition brought by CPI Politburo member and former MLA Chada Venkat Reddy, which the Telangana High Court rejected on Friday. Venkat Reddy has pleaded with the court to deem Satish Kumar’s election from the Husnabad seat in the 2018 elections invalid and to recognize him as the winner.

He said that a candidate for office must submit an election affidavit that includes succinct explanations of relevant facts in accordance with legislative requirements. Satish Kumar, however, hid information regarding his possessions and debts. Other than this, he said, Satish had not declared which political party he was running for or if he was running as an independent since he had not removed any irrelevant information from the nomination. Venkat Reddy said that this led to uncertainty among the electorate.

Rejecting the argument against a single judge’s property transfer ruling

In an order pertaining to lands in Nagupalli village, Bhadradri-Kothagudem district, under the Land Transfer Regulation (LTR), the Telangana High Court has rejected to become involved. A writ appeal filed by M Suryanarayana and another person was being heard by a bench consisting of Chief Justice Alok Aradhe and Justice J Anil Kumar. The single judge had denied their request, citing an unwarranted wait of more than 13 years in filing a moving court. The lone judge had said that parties must approach the court in a fair amount of time even though there was no deadline for writ petition filings under Article 226 of the Constitution. The dismissal was justified by latches and delays.
