Locals and Cong leaders in Medak district of Telangana lament “rampant land grabbing.”

People in almost every part of the former Medak district are becoming alarmed about the widespread appropriation of land. In addition to the district collectors of Sangareddy, Medak, and Siddipet, complaints have also been filed with the government in Hyderabad’s Jyothirao Phule Praja Bhavan. Congress lawmakers also claimed, in addition to locals, that during the previous BRS administration, certain powerful individuals had exploited their position to carry out massive land grabs under the pretense of GO 59.

GO.59 is often used as reason by locals and Congress leaders to voice their disapproval of powerful individuals who are allegedly implicated in land invasion across the Sangareddy, Siddipet, Narsapur, Medak, and Zahirabad districts.

Leaders of the Siddipet Congress have produced proof, including images of new buildings, to support their claims of encroachment on Cheruvu Shikam lands in the Siddipet seat, which is held by T Harish Rao, a former minister. The president of the Siddipet town Congress, Attu Imam, said that official complaints against encroachments near Komati Cheruvu in Siddipet had been filed with both the newly appointed collector Mikkilineni Manu Choudary and the old collector Prashanth Jeevan Patil. Up to Rs 20,000 is the estimated worth of the in issue land per square yard. Furthermore, it is said that some Siddipet Municipality councilors have intruded onto 2.24 acres of Ganapati Kunta, which was formerly spread across 8.16 acres on the periphery of the town.

In addition, Attu Imam claimed that some BRS leaders had encroached on 85 acres of government property in Mittapally under GO 59, out of a total of 120 acres. According to reports, the Patancheru Industrial Area district collector’s office has been inundated with complaints in recent days about many cases of unlawful occupancy of government lands. The Sangareddy collector has responded by opening an investigation into the situation.
