Man Taken into Arrest Regarding Death of Older Woman in Delhi Snatching Incident

Delhi, New: Days after a 66-year-old lady in north Delhi’s Civil Lines neighborhood fell from an e-rickshaw during a snatching incident and died, police announced on Thursday that a man had been apprehended.

On December 17, Kesang Dorjee, an Arunachal Pradesh native, was riding on the three-wheeler from Majnu Ka Tila to the Vidhan Sabha metro station when the event happened.

According to authorities, the 36-year-old accused Umesh Khari has a lengthy criminal record and is the subject of many cases in Delhi, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh.

Khari informed authorities that he also gave some cash from the bag he had grabbed from an elderly lady to assist someone get her kid enrolled to a reputable school.

“Khari, a father of five girls, has spent the past 20 years committing crimes. He has been caught on a very few times. The accused enjoys riding expensive motorbikes, which he employs for robberies and stealing. In order to spend more money and travel with his live-in lover, he had been doing all of this, according to Deputy Commissioner of Police (North) Manoj Kumar Meena.

The officer said that many teams were assembled to apprehend the defendant.

According to the DCP, the accused’s motorbike, a Bajaj Dominar 400, was identified via analysis of the CCTV video taken at the scene during the inquiry.

Teams were sent to the locations for raids once further information about the motorbike was verified. Upon verification, it was discovered that the owner of one of the aforementioned motorcycles could not be located. Upon reviewing his criminal history, Meena discovered that the owner was connected to many Delhi-registered robbery cases.

According to police, many searches were carried out at his potential hiding places in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and Haryana.

A previous sarpanch of Bajidpur village in Jhajjar, Haryana, was one of his sisters. He was able to operate a dairy close to the Jhajjar police lines, which was one of his favorite hiding places, thanks to her influence. Later, in 2004, he turned himself up at a Ghaziabad court in a snatching case.

According to the DCP, he was taken to Delhi, questioned, and taken into custody in the current case.

He admitted to his wrongdoing over the course of his questioning.

According to the authorities, he disclosed that he had given part of the money discovered in the bag to a woman in order to help her daughter be accepted into a reputable school.

Khari rides brand-new motorcycles that his friends and family have bought for him without number plates. His primary target is ladies with handbags who are riding in rickshaws or strolling along the highways. They said that he only ever robs or snatches bags, and that after he has taken the money, he discards the bags in the surrounding isolated areas.

The wounded woman’s relatives brought her to Dehradun, Uttarakhand, for more medical care; there, on December 21, she passed away.

The mother and her family were lodged at Arunachal Bhawan in Chanakyapuri. After lunch, they were heading towards the Vidhan Sabha metro station from the Tibetan market when the event happened.
