New and golden chapter in India-US ties begins, says the PM

The Indian diaspora in Washington DC heard Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s remarks on Friday. He said that over the three days of his visit, India-US ties had begun a new and wonderful journey and that “this journey is of our convergence on global strategic issues.”

The Prime Minister said he had extensive conversations with US President Joe Biden on various matters and that the US leader had made significant personal efforts to elevate the India-America cooperation. The Prime Minister was speaking to a sizable gathering of the Indian community at the Ronald Reagan Centre in Washington, DC.

The collaboration in “make in India, make for the world,” coordination in technology transfer, and manufacturing for the industrial supply chain would all be part of the India-US connection, Modi said the diaspora. He said that the two countries were making strides towards a brighter future.

The Artemis Agreement, which the US and India have signed, would pave the way for many opportunities in space. According to the Prime Minister, both countries would gain from India’s participation in the NASA Artemis initiative, which runs from the Moon to Mars.

He said that discussions to send Indian astronauts to the International Space Station had advanced and that NASA would provide them with advanced training. “That is why I said yesterday that even the sky is not the limit,” when it comes to the India-US alliance.

“All these agreements do not just advance policies,” the prime minister said. They will advance the fates of millions of people in the two nations. Together, we are defining lives, aspirations, and destiny in addition to creating rules and agreements.

Modi said that many Indians living in America had their hearts in both countries and that certain choices had been made for their convenience. According to him, two new US consulates would open in Ahmedabad and Bengaluru, while a new Indian consulate will open in Seattle.

He revealed that Indians would now be allowed to renew their H1B visas in the US itself, eliminating the need for them to leave the country, to chants of “Modi, Modi” from the crowd, which repeatedly gave the Prime Minister a standing ovation.

He said that this will take place right here in the US. A trial project will begin this year, and IT workers will gain a lot from the facility. He said that lessons learned from this situation will be used to provide the same concession for L category visas as well.

According to Modi, numerous significant choices were made. The GE Company’s decision to manufacture fighter aircraft engines in India will mark a significant development for the country’s military industry. According to him, the US would achieve this accord by sharing not just technology but also mutual trust.

The military industrial cooperation strategy, according to the prime minister, will strengthen the relationship between the two nations. Large corporations including Micron, Google, and Applied Materials announced significant investments in India during his visit. Micron will spend $2,5 billion in semiconductors, connecting India to the global semiconductor supply chain.

According to Modi, the 400 million dollar investment in Applied Material’s semiconductor equipment would support the development of India’s semiconductor manufacturing eco system. Google will establish a fintech hub in India. Boeing has also disclosed a $100 million contribution. A trial training plan will be available.

According to him, all of these initiatives would not only increase investment but also lead to the creation of employment, high-tech production, and innovation.

According to the Prime Minister, India’s accomplishments have made Indians in the US glad that so many countries participated in the UN Yoga event. They were delighted to see Made in India products at their neighbourhood supermarkets and to see Indian talent leading major international corporations. He said that Natu, Natu, shook the whole universe. India is directing global growth, and everyone can see this.

According to Modi, India is progressing quickly because it has regained the confidence it had previously lost as a result of centuries of foreign control. India now is clear about its choices and direction, and it understands its route. It is performing to the best of its ability. Hundreds of tier 2 and tier 3 cities are contributing to the writing of its growth narrative. He said, “Many of you have come from such small cities here.”

“You need to be conscious of their evolving appearance. Your family members will be able to advise you of the changes being made to airports, semi-fast trains, and motorways. According to him, India is making unprecedentedly large investments in its infrastructure.

India is the mother of democracy, the prime minister said. America is a leader in contemporary democracy. The United States is our largest trade partner and the destination of our exports today, but the whole potential of our relationship has not yet shown itself.

He urged the Indian diaspora, “You have a huge role to play in this endeavour. As a result of your reputation and significant development contributions to the US, India has high expectations of you in light of its decision to support Viksit Bharat.

The Prime Minister urged the Indians: “This is the right time for investment in India, you can invest in MSME, Start-ups, go ahead, encourage young entrepreneurs, in India’s growth your skill, your technology, and your expertise will be highly useful.”

He said, “India has launched a new National Education Policy. Many of you hold prominent positions as academics and academicians at US universities, and your association with your alma mater and other institutions will have a positive influence. More than 100 languages will be the focus of the Google AI research hub in India. Children whose mother language is not English will find it easier to study and job thanks to this.

He said that the University of Houston will establish a Tamil Study Chair with assistance from the Indian Government. The impact of the oldest language in the world will grow thanks to this Chair. Indians in the US were informed by Modi that they could claim ownership of the world’s oldest human language.

He said that more than 100 antiques that had travelled to the international market through a variety of ways had been determined to be returned to India by the US Government. “I appreciate the US government doing this. Respecting the feelings of the other country and its citizens improves ties. When I previously visited, several of these goods were returned.

This, he said, demonstrates that “our relationships are not just commercial, but also emotionally strong.” Our collaboration will improve life in the twenty-first century. You play a vital part. I have no doubt that you will contribute without hesitation. You have my whole trust.
