Sameer Wankhede, a former NCB officer, claims he has received death threats in Dawood’s name, and an investigation has begun

Sameer Wankhede, a former zonal director of the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), has stated that he and his family have been getting death threats in the name of organized crime figure Dawood Ibrahim. He and his family were called by the CBI in the Aryan Khan drug bust case.

The threats were reported to Mumbai police by Wankhede, who told them that he had been getting them via a phony Twitter account, according to sources cited by news agency ANI.

Senior Mumbai Police authorities have apparently been alerted by Wankhede, and they are investigating the situation. According to ANI, a second inquiry into the matter is also ongoing.

Last month, Wankhede also claimed that he and his wife had received death threats.

Wankhede, who was overseeing the probe into a case involving superstar Shah Rukh Khan’s son Aryan Khan, had a corruption charge filed against him by the CBI.

One of the independent witnesses for NCB accused Wankhede of accepting a bribe of Rs 8 crore.

According to the allegations, Wankhede attempted to extort Rs 25 crore from the family of Aryan Khan together with his subordinates VV Singh and Ashish Ranjan as well as two additional civilians who served as punchas in this case.

The Mumbai Police sent an ACP-level official to look into the accusations made against Wankhede on October 27, 2021. Due to a “shoddy” inquiry into the issue, he was ultimately moved to the Director General of Taxpayers’ Services (DGTS) in Chennai.

Wankhede’s temporary protection has now been extended by the Bombay High Court till June 8.

After the investigation into the drug charges after the suspected death of Bollywood star Sushant Singh Rajput, in which numerous other film celebrities were targeted, Wankhede catapulted to popularity in 2020 while serving as the Mumbai Zonal Director of the NCB.

After the arrest of Aryan Khan, the son of Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan, in October 2021 during a raid on an alleged drug party onboard a cruise ship, his fame increased even more. However, Aryan Khan was given a clean bill of health by the NCB months later.
