Side Effects of Covishield: Medical Association Requests Government Review of All Covid Vaccines

Following the admission by the multinational pharmaceutical company AstraZeneca in a UK court that, in rare circumstances, their Covid vaccination might result in blood clots, a group of physicians on Thursday voiced serious concerns about the safety of the Covishield vaccine, which is produced by the Serum Institute of India.

The doctors called for the government to review the science underlying all COVID vaccines, audit their commercialization, and implement active surveillance and monitoring mechanisms in order to ensure that vaccine adverse events are detected as soon as possible. They were speaking at a press conference on behalf of the Awaken India Movement (AIM).

At the press conference, activist and radiologist Dr. Tarun Kothari stated, “The government has wholly ignored the rising number of cases of tragic deaths post-Covid vaccination all along and continues to promote Covid vaccines as’safe and effective’, without scientific investigation and invoking epidemiology.” Thrombosis with Thrombocytopenia Syndrome (TTS), a side effect of the COVID vaccination, is becoming more well known, he added.

Little did most people know that the COVID-19 vaccinations were being given out before phase 3 studies were finished. As to Dr. Sujata Mittal, a gynecologist and oncologist, the COVID-19 vaccination was administered without full information and data from the makers about potential short- or long-term adverse effects, including deaths. She said that there is currently little knowledge on vaccine-related injuries, particularly in India.

She said that thousands of women experienced irregular menstrual cycles, which were ultimately identified as a vaccination adverse effect in September 2022 research.

Since the start of the vaccine in 2021, the Awaken India Movement (AIM) has been gathering information on COVID vaccine fatalities reported in Indian media and social media and sharing it with the nation’s senior authorities. Dr. Kothari said, “The government has not complied with our repeated demands to look into vaccination-related fatalities and disabilities.

The AIM encouraged the Indian government to establish a process that includes vaccine makers in order to recompense all victims of COVID vaccinations, including their family members. “To provide prompt justice to the vaccine injured and their families, we also demand the establishment of fast-track courts and vaccine courts,” Dr. Mittal said.

In order to save lives, she said, early treatment methods need to be developed and extensively publicized, as well as active surveillance and monitoring systems to guarantee that vaccination adverse effects are detected as soon as feasible.

Dr. Kothari said, “Audit all COVID vaccines’ commercialization and review the science underlying them.”

Days after admitting to unusual adverse effects of blood clotting and decreasing platelet counts, UK-based AstraZeneca began a worldwide withdrawal of its COVID-19 vaccine, which was supplied in India as “Covishield” in collaboration with the Serum Institute of India. The corporation said in a statement that the withdrawal was brought about by an abundance of improved vaccinations that have been available since the epidemic.

The Serum Institute of India, a partner of the firm, said that it has ceased producing and supplying extra doses of Covishield since December 2021. It also reiterated that all very uncommon to rare adverse effects, including TTS, will be reported in the box insert in 2021. After co-developing the COVID-19 vaccine with Oxford University, AstraZeneca’s product was marketed as Vaxzevria across Europe.
