Yamunanagar locals block a railway track

The Ambala-Saharanpur railway track was stopped today at Saraswati Nagar (Mustafabad) train station by the residents of numerous villages.

The Bhartiya Kisan Union (Charuni) leaders’ supporters were clamoring for the passenger trains to be stopped at the railway station.

It is said that after a mahapanchayat at the train station, they closed the railroad track from 12:30 to 3:50 p.m. One passenger train and two cargo trains were therefore delayed.

According to Sanju Gundiana, district president of Bhartiya Kisan Union (BKU), residents of many villages in the Saraswati Nagar region have been calling for the shutdown and have visited with railway officials on multiple occasions to make this demand.

He said that even though the authorities had given them assurances, their demand had not been met. Gundiana said that Hanuman Prasad, the Additional Divisional Railway Manager (ADRM) of the Ambala Railway Division, arrived at the location upon his receipt of information of the obstruction.
